TORT LAW ESSAY
Charlie notices a possible catastrophe and rushes out after Baisey. He just manages to save Baisey from being run over by Darney, who is driving a van safely within the speed limit. However, Charlie collides with Darney’s van and is seriously injured. Darney skids off the road and crashes into some playground equipment. Luckily, no children are using the equipment. Fanny, driving at speed behind Darney, sees these events and puts her foot down hard on the brakes. Fanny’s car skids on an oil slick and crashes into a tree. Some distance behind the tree was Gerard. He thought Fanny’s car might hit him and ran away screaming ‘Oh Lord, don’t take me now!’ Gerard has an underlying personality disorder and develops a paranoid fear of going out into the street. As a result, he loses his job and livelihood
The accident involving Gerard was witnessed by Ellie, Baisey’s grandmother, who was also at the park. Ellie suffers from a brief fright but believes that she will be alright. However, she later develops post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of this event, combined with the news that Baisey barely escaped a serious injury. She had not seen the incident involving Baisey herself, because she had been busy setting out the picnic lunch. TORT Law Essay Assignment
