4LMS 0150 SPORT MANAGEMENT – NATIONAL AND
INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES
In essay format compare and contrast two different countries’ approaches to Sports Business
Management that have been covered in this module.
You should choose two of the following: UK, America, Australia, and Europe.
Examine the similarities and differences in the ways in which sport is managed and delivered in the
two countries you have chosen. You should make reference to practical examples and key concepts
discussed in the module throughout your essay. This could include – Governance,
Commercialisation, Mass Media, Sponsorship and Branding, Globalisation, Ethics, Sports Tourism
and Global Events.
HINTS & TIPS
A 2,000 word essay must be word processed and uploaded in Microsoft Word format in Size 12 Font.
A minimum of 8 credible reference sources is required.
Submit your work electronically via Canvas no later than 15.30 on Friday 3rd May 2019.
EVALUATION
The attached marking matrix will be used to evaluate your submissions. It is recommended that you
familiarise yourself with this and be aware of the criteria for achieving the scores for each element of the
matrix. A good essay will have a logical structure, use the recommended referencing system, show that
a range of relevant literature has been appropriately used to support the findings/argument, demonstrate
a good understanding of the factors that affect international approaches to sport management and arrive
at justifiable conclusions about it using the evidence obtained and the literature used.
