What am I required to do in this assignment?
Students are required to compare and critically analyse the policy/legislative framework of a selected addictive behaviour from two different countries.
By week 8 students will be encouraged to submit a selected addictive behaviour together with two countries, for formative feedback on the suitability of choice.
Identify the main legal/moral arguments around a selected addictive behaviour;
· Using information from recommended sources, compare and critically analyse the existing policy and/or legislation of a selected addictive behaviour from two different countries.
How do I produce high quality work that merits a good grade?
In order to get a good grade, you will need to demonstrate a good level of understanding of the addiction and dependency issue you have chosen. It is important that your views are demonstrated within an understanding of theoretical approaches to the subject matter – you must avoid making generalizations and assumptions based on subjective perspectives; the ethos of the unit is to enhance the anti-oppressive narratives of the debate.
Having analyzed the complex issues:
Demonstrate that you have understood the arguments that shape the debate on dependency.
Apply the discussed theoretical models of dependency and the impact upon policies.
Use reliable, verifiable sources of information from which to cite and inform your writing.
Make sure that your writing has a coherent argument leading to a clear conclusion. You must use accurate terms and definitions for the issues that you address. You must give a clear definition of the issue that you have chosen – and offer a clear rationale for the country chosen with which to compare.
